One of ten engraved copperplates, subsequently gilded ¿after being used to print illustrations to a Lima edition of Juan de Alloza y Menacho S.J. (1597-1666) Cielo Estrellado […] de María? The work of Alloza y Menacho is known in a Madrid edition of 1655 and a Valencia edition of 1691, the latter by the Macé press. The ten plates correspond to the ten regions of Dante's Paradiso: the seven heavens corresponding to the movable stars (Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn), the cristaline heaven of the fixed stars (the Firmament), the heaven of the Primum Mobile, and the Empyrean or Abode of God.
