Note: The painting matches the Mallery engraving (and counters the Collaert engraving) in the direction of the composition, the donkey's posture, the breaking idol, and the posture of Saint Joseph (turning towards his family and holding the donkey's bridle). Collaert's engraving does include, though, a palm tree in the background (like the painting does).
