Note: The proposed source is closer than the 1582 engraving by Pieter Perret after the Maltese painting by Mateo Pérez de Alesio (cf. Cohen Suarez 2015, Fig.3). See the positions of Christ and John the Baptist, especially the cleanly cut branch on which the latter rests his bent knee.
