Note: The corresponding Gaultier differs from its Collaert source in the position of the left hand of the maid at top left. The Gaultier image also crops the Collaert source more closely. The Brazilian painting follows the Gaultier engraving in both of these respects. There is also a same-direction copy of the Collaert by Justus Sadeler. But here the maid of the upper left is missing. And, unlike the painting, the Virgin is shown tended by angels as well as maids.
