- Note
- This inscription is more closely related to the corresponding inscription in the Alma de un condenado en el infierno at the Convento de la Merced del Cusco (PESSCA 5502B) than either one of them is to the published poem (PESSCA 5497A). Thus, like the inscription in the Mercedarian painting (and unlike the published poem), this inscription has A[QU]ESTE TERRIBLE (rather than LA EMBIDIA Y SU ATROZ) in the first verse; ETERNAMENTE (rather than EL EMBIDIOSO) in the sixth verse; and DEESTE (rather than DEL) in the seventh verse. Furthermore, the inscription bears the same position in the Huaro painting as it does in the Mercedarian painting (below the image and second from the left). And similar points can be made about three of the other four inscriptions in the Huaro painting vis-à-vis its Mercedarian counterpart.
