Medium: Engraving. After Jan van der Straet (Giovanni Stradano) (1523-1605). Plate 25/34 (plus title plate) of the Acta Apostolarum (Second Edition). The first edition of this series follows seventeen designs (and a title plate) by Maarten van Heemskerck (1498-1574); the second follows seventeen additional designs (and a title plate) by Jan van der Straet (Giovanni Stradano) (1523-1605). Engravers for the 34 plates (and titles) are Philip Galle (1537-1612), Hendrick Goltzius (1558-1617), and Adriaen Collaert. The series was published in Antwerp from the 16th to the 18th centuries by Philip Galle, Theodor Galle (1576-1638), Jan Galle (1600-1676), and Martinus Spanoghe.
