- Note
- Christoval de Jaque de los Ríos de Mançanedo recorded the use of rocks as ballast to sink the cross in his Voyages aux Indes Orientales et Occidentales[.] This is a travel narrative allegedly composed ¿in Spanish? in 1606 but first published in French by H. Ternaux-Compans in his Archives des Voyages[.] Tome I, Livraison II, pp. 241-350. Paris: Arthus Bertrand, 1840.
